Chery Pakistan and Master Auto Engineering (MAE) have formally joined hands with Orient Energy Systems in a strategic energy alliance focused on renewable, green energy. The partnership brings together a fast-growing new energy vehicle (NEV) brand and one of Pakistan’s most established power and engineering companies, with a shared goal of supporting the country’s move toward cleaner energy and more sustainable mobility.
With rising fuel costs and pressure on the national energy supply, transport and power are two sides of the same challenge. Plug-in hybrids deliver their greatest benefit when the electricity behind them is clean and affordable. By combining Chery’s plug-in hybrid technology with Orient’s energy expertise, the alliance connects how Pakistanis drive with how the country generates its power.
Founded in 1996 by a group of engineers, Orient Energy Systems began as a five-person team guided by a “Power for All” philosophy. Today it employs over 2,400 people, operates from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad and Multan, and is the local partner for global brands including GE Jenbacher, Cummins, Siemens Gamesa and Bosch.
Orient also brings deep renewable energy experience to the alliance. Its team of more than 30 specialised solar engineers has completed over 200 projects, delivering more than 600 MW of solar energy solutions across Pakistan. The company is PEC-certified in the CB category, the country’s highest contractor classification, and its portfolio includes the largest captive rooftop solar project in Pakistan at Gul Ahmed Textile Mills. It is also the EPC contractor for a 7.5 MW wind power project that will supply green energy to Pakistan Cables’ factory in Nooriabad, Sindh.
The alliance builds on an existing relationship with the Master Group. Master Changan Motors previously completed a 2.5 MW solar project at its Port Qasim manufacturing site in collaboration with Orient, cutting its carbon footprint and reducing its demand on the national grid.
Clean Energy Meets Plug-in Mobility
A plug-in hybrid can be charged from the grid, a home charger or a solar-powered setup, and every kilometre driven in electric mode uses electricity instead of petrol. Chery’s locally assembled Tiggo PHEV lineup offers up to 170 km of pure electric driving and up to 1,400 km of combined range, meaning most city trips can run on electricity. With renewable power behind them, the result is lower running costs and a smaller carbon footprint.
The alliance reflects Chery Master Pakistan’s wider commitment to new energy mobility. The company has built one of the largest locally assembled plug-in hybrid SUV portfolios in the country, including the Tiggo 9 PHEV, the Tiggo 8 PHEV and the Tiggo 7 PHEV, and is evaluating future models such as the Tiggo 4 HEV, QQ BEV and Tiggo V for the local market.
By combining Chery’s globally proven Super Hybrid technology with Orient’s three decades of power and renewable energy expertise, Chery Pakistan and MAE are taking a meaningful step toward a future where everyday driving is more efficient, more affordable, and more sustainable for Pakistani families.
