Chery Pakistan, in partnership with Master Auto Engineering (MAE), brought Pakistan’s largest locally assembled plug-in hybrid SUV lineup to the PakWheels New Wheels Expo 2026 at the Expo Centre Karachi. The Chery stall gave car buyers, families and auto enthusiasts a rare chance to see, compare and experience the complete Chery PHEV range in one place: the Tiggo 7 PHEV, Tiggo 8 PHEV and Tiggo 9 PHEV.
Held in Halls 5 and 6 with an outdoor area dedicated to test drives, the expo brought leading car and two-wheeler brands under one roof. Entry was free, and the doors stayed open from 12 PM to 8 PM. Visitors could ask questions, compare specifications side by side and get behind the wheel without travelling between showrooms. Many took the opportunity to test drive the Tiggo 8 PHEV and Tiggo 9 PHEV on the track and experience Chery Super Hybrid performance first-hand.
All three Tiggo PHEVs on display are locally assembled and powered by Chery Super Hybrid technology (CS, which blends an electric motor with an efficient turbocharged petrol engine and automatically chooses the most efficient way to drive. Short daily trips can be completed on electricity alone, while longer journeys use both power sources together, making the lineup well suited to Pakistan, where long-distance travel is common and EV charging infrastructure is still limited.
The Lineup on Display
The Tiggo 7 PHEV, a premium 5-seater C-SUV, offers more than 90 km of pure electric range and a combined range above 1,200 km. It produces 342 hp and 525 Nm, uses an 18.3 kWh battery, comes with 8 airbags and ADAS, and supports 40 kW DC fast charging that takes the battery from 30% to 80% in around 20 minutes.
The Tiggo 8 PHEV, Pakistan’s only 7-seater plug-in hybrid D-SUV, delivers 496 horsepower and 735 Nm of torque, with an electric range of up to 90 km and a combined range of about 1,200 km. It carries five-star global safety ratings along with 10 airbags and ADAS. Deliveries to pre-registered customers began in April 2026, in line with the company’s promised timeline.
The flagship Tiggo 9 PHEV offers up to 170 km of pure electric driving and up to 1,400 km of total range. It pairs a 1.5L turbo engine with a triple-motor setup and a 34.46 kWh battery, with all-wheel drive, a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a Sony 14-speaker audio system and a panoramic sunroof. In a Pakistan highway test, it covered 205 km in pure electric mode, beyond its claimed 170 km, and a further 1,302 km in hybrid operation.
Visitors also learned that Chery’s PHEVs are built locally at Chery Master Pakistan’s $150 million manufacturing plant in the National Industrial Park, Port Qasim, Karachi, which covers more than 60 acres. Customers are supported by a nationwide dealership network across Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Faisalabad and Sialkot, as well as Chery Studio, Pakistan’s first premium boutique automotive studio, located at 37C Khayaban-e-Ittehad Road, DHA Phase 6, Karachi. Local assembly means better parts availability, trained after-sales support and a long-term commitment to Pakistani customers.
Chery operates in more than 130 markets and has over 19 million users worldwide. In July 2026, Chery Group crossed 20 million cumulative vehicle sales and became the first Chinese automaker to export over 200,000 vehicles in a single month, a global scale that now stands behind every Tiggo PHEV assembled in Pakistan.
